YOWZA!

That's all I can say about the first endometrial biopsy.

That mother#$%^@# hurt. I mean, hurt.

And I think I have a fairly high tolerance for pain. I started sweating, then felt nauseous, and let out a couple of involuntary yelps (which I hated) and my poor doctor just kept apologizing.

Now I'm just bleeding and cramping, oh the fun.

The best part: I get to go again on Monday. I'm making Mr. LastChance go with me on Monday--I could've really used a hand to squeeze/break..er hold.

Dr. M said she wanted the sample to be "of good size, so it looks like a worm when placed in formalin." Well they showed it to me and it looked like multiple 'worms' and now I think I don't have any lining left.

Scratch that--with my crazy lining there's probably more than enough to spare.

When I reminded my local doc that he didn't need to send the sample to pathology he was like "what?" I said, "Nope, just throw it away." The medical assistant was very hesitant to toss it, but I was like "seriously, get rid of it" we're just injuring the endometrium in hopes of the healing process helping me out in a few short weeks. She gave me a very crazy look.

Oh yeah--when I got there, the first thing I had to do was pee in a cup for a pregnancy test.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!

THANK YOU to some lovely bloggie ladies who are helping me out with meds. Yipeeeeee!

  1. Yep, the endo biopsy hurts like a mother effer:) I have had two of them and they are not fun. The first one hurt so bad that they gave me valium for the pain:)

I was going to tell you that I have a full box of endometrin and maybe some PIO left if you need it. Just leave me a comment on my blog and I can send it to you:)

  2. I've had two endometrial biopsies done in my life. Whenever you have abnormal bleeding, they do these to screen for cancer, and I had to have them done twice for my fibroids. I don't remember them being too bad, but I was also told to take 800 mg of ibuprofen beforehand. I forgot to mention that to you. Sorry!! I also didn't have to do them back to back, so that does suck.

I've also had cervical biopsies done, and that did hurt, but I don't think my doc told me to take ibuprofen ahead of time.

It will all be worth it in the end! Hang in there!

  3. That sucks. I hope the cramping and bleeding subsides.

  4. Can you take something for the pain? I mean, the idea of it is bad enough but now you KNOW how bad it is and have to get another one really soon. I hope you feel better soon...and THIS BETTER WORK! Hugs.

  5. Ugh, it really does hurt. Did you take the 800 of ibuprofen an hour ahead? It doesn't really help with the pain of the procedure, but with cramping afterward.

All I can think is we go thru some crazy things to have a baby. It really is amazing what we all go through.

Hope you are beginning to rest more comfortably.

  6. Oh dear, that just sounds awful. I hope the next one is not as bad...oh the things you are going through...I hope your future children appreciate it!

  7. How daunting to have to go back for that again so soon! Not even enough time for the mind to convince you it wasn't so bad...

Take whatever you can get your hands on!

  9. You poor, poor thing! I do NOT do well with pain, so just the thought of this procedure sends me hiding under the covers. You are SO brave!

If I was there, I'd take you out for an ice cream or something. That's what my mom would always do after I had to get a shot or something else scary. =)

I second the other commenters: Take whatever drugs they will allow!!!

  10. Oh I know this pain well, still remember it clearly from my etegrity test! It was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I took 800mg of ibuprofen before hand but it didn't help. Can you ask them to numb your cervix first? I've heard others say this helped tremendously.

Since you are already going through this pain for the biopsy, you could consider doing the etegrity test.

I am sooo sorry you have to repeat this! You are braver than me, after doing it once, not so sure I could ever do it again.

If I end up with left over meds and you are still in need, I'd be happy to donate them to you.

  11. Ouch! I'm sorry you have to do this all over again!!

Not the same procedure, but I had to have a hysteroscopy twice after my D&C last year (no anesthesia) and the first one was AWFUL. Like pass out and die awful it hurt so bad. The second time I came in armed with relaxing music and the mindset that I'd focus on my breathing. It was definitely better than round one. I think what you've endured sounds worse but I hope that this might help a little!!

  12. I'm sorry it was so painful for you and that you have to go again. I was hoping that you were in the camp of the "that didn't hurt at all" experience but apparently not. Ouch!

I so wish I could get you my leftover meds (which have been stored in the fridge all this time) but I don't think I would be able to ship meds cross border to the US. I have two 450 IU vials of Gonal F leftover which expire in early 2010 so if on the off chance you know of anyone who just so happens to be going from Toronto to Denver, I would be happy to pass those along to you.
