We're having an absolute blast in the city. I think it's our ninth trip together and so far, probably the best (although it's always tough to beat a NYC Christmastime trip...).
So thanks to the amazing J.E. (my celebrity friend) we got to attend a really cool event where celebrities read poetry. OK. I was completely starstruck by James Gandolfini laughing through his poetry readings (he walked right next to Mr. LC and we were only 15 feet or so from the podium in this little performance space), impressed with Amber Tamblyn, and also got to see Claire Danes, Sapphire (author of "Push") and Patricia Clarkson. On our way between the cocktail pre-party and the actual event we passed Hayden Christensen, looking ridiculously un-inconspicuous in a long trench coat. It was 80 degrees.
At any rate, the next day we saw Jeremy Sisto in midtown and then Peter Frechette in Chelsea. I know you may not know who he is, but he was in thirtysomething so alas, I am a fan.
It's been nonstop fun!
From biking through Central Park, to walking the new HighLine Park, to taking the Staten Island Ferry (dorky, yes, but a great way to see lower Manhattan from the water)...to walking about 8 miles today (seriously, I used google pedometer to see how far we walked when we got back to the room) while shopping in SoHo, NoHo, the West Village, and then hitting a great little Indian spot in Curry Row in the East Village....we're just having a blast.
I'd live here in a heartbeat if there was a way.
Anyone have a spare couple of million?
So here we are, loving life and then gnoshing some very hot Indian food...
And then there was this, which really? If anyone gets these tattoos of utensils on someone's calves, can you please clue me in?

Wow! it sounds like a fantastic vacation. I'm jealous. I could use a *real* vacation. And what a cute couple you and DH make!
ReplyDeleteOh and I totally don't get the tattoo either...
Ok, so I've never heard of any of those celebs, but none the less, I am so thrilled you are having such a great time, you so deserve it!
ReplyDeleteSounds and looks like you are having a fabulous time! Soak it up, you've worked hard and now is your chance to play :)
ReplyDeleteawesome. we did xmas in nyc once which was awesome and I used to go there once a month at my old job. I would move there too if I had the money...I'm too used to midwestern square footage.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all - UBER cute picture of you too!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear you're having such a fabulous time - you both deserve that so much.
Your tattoo comment reminded me of when I saw a show where this guy got a baked potato on his bicep... WTH?
Safe travels, thanks for the update!
Wow, you are super-uber fancy! It sounds like a great trip so far. I do love NYC too - I lived at St. Marks adn 2nd Ave for a couple of years in the 90's. Ages and lifetimes ago, but still love the energy that only New York radiates.
ReplyDeleteWait a second. You guys look like you're what? 12? Tee hee hee! Seriously, you're such a darn cute couple. And you're having a good time - yay!
ReplyDeleteSorry, not so familiar with celebs. I might know names or faces but can't necessarily put a name with a face. I remember visiting a popular furniture store in the Midwest that runs a ton of tv ads, and my DH says, "Hey, that's the tv lady!" loud enough that she heard, and OMGoodness, was I ever embarrassed ;o That's enough celebrity for me!
You must post more weird people pics. It makes me laugh. We've played guess the gender in SanFran, but I never thought about snapping a pic. Hmmm
It sounds like you guys are having an AWESOME time. I'm so happy for you!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe she's into feet. You know, like a foot fetish. Or maybe she can eat with her feet. Or maybe she just likes utensils. :)
So glad to hear you're having fun. DH and I are headed up there for our retrieval this weekend, so you're giving me some great ideas on things to do. Here's hoping the rest of your trip is equally great!
ReplyDeleteSo many celebs, so exciting. Once in NY, Amanda Peet walked by me, does that count? So glad your vacation is going well, it sounds so amazing and delicious! Enjoy the rest of the trip. :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, what a fabulous dish full of fabulousness! I've never been to NY, and it's on my 'oh, one day, one day, PLEASE' list. Very impressed by your celebritosity. I've never seen thirtysomething... but it's another thing I kind of keep intending to do. Probably more achieveable than a trip to NY :)
ReplyDeleteTerrific photo of the two of you! I'm glad you're having a wonderful trip - the poetry reading sounds way cool.
ReplyDeleteI know NYC involves a lot of walking, but 8 miles in one day? Yikes!
Aw, what a cute couple! Sounds like ya'll are having a blast in NYC! I wish I had a few million to spare because I'd so give it to you! Take care and enjoy the rest of your much deserved vacation!! :)
ReplyDeleteI have been completely MIA. Sorry!! We will be in your hood this weekend. Sad to miss you again but it sounds and looks like you guys are having a ball in NYC!! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an AWESOME trip. And YUM on the Indian food...and WTF on the silverware tatts? Enjoyed the pics--thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're having a blast and I'm glad you're enjoying yourself so much! All those celebs! You lucky girl...I am so oblivious I would probably walk by one of them and not know it!
ReplyDeleteYou do make a lovely couple. Glad you are having such a great holiday
ReplyDeleteThat all sounds like so much fun! I LOVED thirtysomething - I wanted to BE Hope. I don't remember Peter Frechette though. Glad you're having such a great time. I have no idea about the tattoos - weird!
ReplyDeletelove the photos of you two -- how cute! I'm SO happy to hear that you are enjoying my fair city. the high line IS pretty great.
ReplyDelete:)
YEAH!!!! So glad you are having fun! Did you get my email I sent with a few of my favorite spots around the city?
ReplyDeleteGlad you're having a wonderful time - you two deserve an overdose of fun.
ReplyDeleteLast time J and I were in NY, which was about four years ago now, we were in Banana Republic and I saw Daniel Dae Kim (who plays Jin in Lost) and did the awkward Englishman thing of just walking up to him and engaging him in conversation, much to J's embarrassment.
BR turned out to be my celeb honeypot, as I went back there the following day and bumped into another. I'd bought a jumper (sweater in Americanese) for J the day before, which had then subsequently been put on sale at half price. I asked if I could return it, buy it back, and buy another colour at the same time. The lady at the till said of course, and a man at the next counter said 'Good for you!' and chuckled. I turned, to see British musical theatre 'star' Michael Ball standing next to me. I kept my cool, blurting out 'Crikey, Michael Ball - what a surprise.' We exchanged pleasantries as I was paying, and after he'd left, I explained to the lady who'd served him that he was pretty well known in the UK. She shrieked with excitement: 'So I just served a celebrity?!' I resisted the temptation to tell her that I don't think it really counts if you don't have clue who it is... :)
Don't understand that cutlery - maybe her bottom's just one enormous dinner plate?
Would definitely live there too if we could - have absolutely loved every trip there.
Have fun for the remainder of your trip.
J
So I'm catching up backward style and already saw the awesome video you made. (-; Another incredible NYC vacation!
